University Partners for 2019/20
On the St Polycarp's CTSA programme, we offer a choice of two universities for students to complete their academic studies. The majority of the course will be spent training 'on the job' in school, however the academic element is completed in blocks tutored by educational experts in these leading universities.
The University of Reading's Institute of Education
The University of Reading's Institute of Education is an established provider of high-quality training and research. They are ranked 8th in the UK for Education (The Guardian University League Table 2019) and have been consistently in the top 10 for over a decade. Committed to developing caring, reflective, professional teachers, they have well-established partnerships with over 300 schools in Berkshire and the surrounding area. Ofsted report that "Head teachers are eager to appoint trainees, because they are well prepared and have the necessary high standards of practice required to begin their teaching career" ITE inspection report September 2016. This course celebrates the wealth of experience provided by schools, with an emphasis on continuous time in a school setting, supported by university lectures.
