Football

Some of our Year 5 footballers stood in for the Year 6's who were at PGL to represent the school at the  Inter-School Y6 Salesian College Football Tournament.
Twenty teams took part. Our Year 5's won their group. They then went onto win their quarter-final match. They were finally knocked out in the semi-finals on penalties. They played some fantastic football, scoring many goals and our goalkeeper Sam made some amazing saves.
Their team effort, attitude and spirit was commendable.
Well Done boys!

Sports Taster Sessions

Recently the children have experienced several sports' taster activities. In giving the children a variety of taster sports sessions throughout the year we hope to find a sporting activity that every child may enjoy. When setting up the taster sessions we always ensure there is a pathway to a  school club  or a local community club that they may join if they are interested.

KS1 enjoyed a football taster session and  who knows when we may spot the next Neymar! Not only do we have SCL and Chlesea football clubs at school there are lots of local clubs for the children to join.

KS2 tried out the racquet sport of Squash. This was new for most of our children and they children thoroughly enjoyed their sessions. There are new junior squash club  sessions available for the children to join at the local Bourne Club.
We ran exciting Floorball taster sessions hoping to encourage a new generation of Floorball players.

Surrey School Games

Our gymnastic display team performed their Poly's Goes to Rio routine in front of 800 people for the opening ceremony. They had the whole audience clapping along and were a credit to the school. Surrey Active, the organisers, were very impressed by the standard of the performance as were the other schools from all around Surrey. The Mayor of Waverley came to congratulate our children on their outstanding performance.

Borelli Cup 2017

Our Year 6 school team represented us at the annual Borelli Football Cup. Fifteen teams took part. We came third in our group stage, missing out on the semi's by a goal difference of one. The boys played as a team supporting each other and managing to score 6 goals.  They acted in a very sporting manner always thanking their referee and cheering for the opposing team at the end of each match. Their behaviour was exemplary and they were a credit to our school.

Tri-Golf

Our Year3/4 golf team represented the school at the County Level 3 golf competition. We came 4th overall. The children thoroughly enjoyed competing despite the inclement weather.

District Sports

This year's annual District Sports for the 14 schools in our district was held at Guildford Athletics Stadium. Forty-three of our children from Y3-6 competed. Our children's performance was excellent. We won two trophies:

  •   The 'Low Cup'. For this trophy they add up the points you score as a school and divide it by the number of children in your KS2. St. Polycarp's got the most points.
  •   The 'Morgan Cup' This was for the best girls' relay team.

Additionally, we came 2nd in the Boys Relay and 3rd in the Field Events.

We also came 2nd and 3rd in the open 600metre boys and girls races.

Well done to all our sporting stars.

The daily run has really impacted on our performance as our children got through to the majority of the final heats.

We have a fully trained sports crew, playground leaders, healthy lifestyle ambassadors and Surrey sports leaders. These children have been leading physical activity within our school, in the district and county.
